Captainship does come with a lot of challenges as well as new opportunities ways of coping up with these challenges. It all depends on how, as an individual, you will take up your responsibility and all it brings along.
As a school captain, getting to interact with my fellow captains and listen to some of the things they go through has helped me a lot. If you think you are comfortable as a senior, remember to check on them who are within your jurisdiction so that you can learn, grow and make friends of substance.
Interacting with teachers, members of non-teaching staff, the administration and most especially the B.O.M has been something I don't take for granted. I have come to understand that some of the great people you see today, at one point were captains. It goes without saying that leadership indeed begins from the grass root. I have also been able to understand how challenging most of their work can be. All in all, they prove to be strong and courageous enough to overcome and become better people.
Being in this position, one needs to be flexible and wise. It reaches a time that studies get affected, though not for all of us. When this happens it doesn't mean you are a failure, it simply means you need to adjust your balancing criteria. We tend to slide once in a while and when we do, we get up, dust ourselves up and continue marching forward.
Be encouraged to be a good leader everywhere since a leader doesn't mean that you must be a captain. A leader is s o m e o n e w h o understands that they have got a responsibility and no matter how big or small it is it requires one to take charge. Always remember to be the reason why someone ends their day with a bright smile or a feeling of contentment
