French, a foreign language, is the newest subject in the school. It was started in 2017. The department had the first candidate for K.C.S.E in 2017. The department has only one teacher who works in collaboration with teachers of French in French-offering schools in the region.

Currently, French is done in all classes i.e. Form 1 to Form 4. For introduction, we have a whole class taking French but form 2, being an elective subject, we scale down manageable number of students who proceed to take the national exam.

Students who learn French have an added advantage because it opens up career opportunities for them in them in the countr y and also in francophone countries. In the country they can work as tourist guides, interpreters, translators, airhostesses and even in the French Embassy.

There are a number of activities in the French department that is;

• French speaking session
• Grammar learning session 
• Listening; we listen to recorded content in French
• Film watching; session we watch simple films acted in French.
• Reading materials written in French.

We do all the above activities to enhance and improve our skills in learning and speaking. I encourage the students to speak in French every time as practice makes perfect.

Being a subject in the school, it has posted exemplary results in K.C.S.E. The highest mean ever was in 2020, 10.38. In 2021 the class posted 9.769. This was a slight drop and as they say, 'it was just a slip; not a fall'

The department will continue to pursue excellence.
