Kabare Girl's high school has been participating in the The Kenya Science and Engineering Fair formerly, Science Congress. The students are usually guided on how to research, write and present scientific papers and projects which involve subject teachers ranging from Languages, Arts and mainly Sciences. Entry is open to all students after thorough check by various teachers on workability and feasibility of their projects. Science and Engineering Fair in our school is supported by the school Chief Principal, Mrs Muhuni and a team of teachers. Currently the teacher in charge of the team is Mr. Karanja (Chemistry, Environmental Science Engineering and Agricultural Sciences) assisted by Ms. Mukiri (Biology and Biological Sciences), Mr Kariuki (Physics, Technical and Applied) other teachers in the team include Mr Njoroge (Mathematics), Mrs Wambugu (Food Science), Mrs Kinanga (Computer Science) while Mr Karanja and Mr Githinji help in behavioral studies (a new entry).
For the last 4 years preceding COVID-19 outbreak our school has participated at national level: In the year 2019 two projects represented the school and central region at Jomo Kenyatta High School Nakuru county and position 4 nationally in a Mathematics project while a pesticide-cum-liquid fertilizer project was position 14, the school also represented the region in 2018 and 2017 at national level. The year 2022 opened a new chapter in Science Projects due to hard work, persistence, discipline and most of all God's Grace and Favour. Kabare Girls High School students are now capable of taking part in international competitions like Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP). The 2022 competitions started at the rd ambassador of Sweden residence in on 3 June in Nairobi. The competition was held to test on the innovative minds of youngsters aged 15-20years in relation to solving water problems. Nationally, 25 projects were submitted but only the top 10 were to proceed. However, one dropped at the last minute leaving only 9 projects. Our school presented 3 projects. This was done by 9 students who were accompanied by Mr Karanja and Ms J. th th Njagi. Nationally, the 6 and 9 positions th were from Kiambu High, 5 was from Kabare Girls on turbidity, which involves removal of some heavy metal ions and selected bacteria from water using maize tassels and activated carbon. It was presented by Gillian Gachoka, Charity th Wanza and Kamweru Mercy 3V. The 4 rd position was Karoti Girls and in the 3 position, Kabare Girls; a project based on removal of Phenolic compounds presented by Earlyn Sonne, Karume Grace and Nyambura Mitchelle 3V. The nd 2 position was held by Friends School st Kamusinga and the 1 position nationally was held by Kabare Girls; a project based on removal of lead and copper ions using avocado seed powder presented by Valarie Wairimu, Olive Ayuma and Janiffer Nyaguthii.
The project was to proceed to Sweden and represent Kenya globally amongst 42 other countries such as UK, Japan, Malaysia, Denmark, Germany, UAE, Chile, Benin, SouthAfrica among others, th nd between 24 August and 2 September 2022. The students were working to attain position 1 Globally.
