The Guidance and Counselling department has a team of seven teachers. It is currently headed by Mrs. Winfred Chomba and assisted by Mrs. Elizabeth Njeru. The team is very cohesive and all work for a common goal i.e. the well-being of all students. They endeavor to provide all learners with a learner-friendly environment, such that they feel psychologically comfortable, emotionally secure and physically safe in their school.

To achieve this, the department works closely with all class teachers who help greatly in identifying learners who may require assistance from the department. Such cases may be as a result of loss of a loved one, friendship, family issues, sexuality- you name it, and the department does not disappoint.

Peer counselors are another force that tr uly helps in the Guidance and Counselling department. These are chosen from among the students. Each class has its own peer counsellors, and the members of the class do the selection. They select those that they are comfortable with and those that they trust to uphold confidentiality. They are a bridge between the students and the members of the department and their work is awesome. Their regular meetings and counselling sessions with them have given their peers a sense of belonging where they can freely discuss issues affecting them. They also share their highs and their lows, hence the strong source of encouragement

Besides all this, the department operates with an intensive programme every term. Among the activities undertaken include group therapies where members meet students for continued counselling. It is in such forums where various issues affecting students are highlighted and are taken up immediately by the department. Other groups like the bereaved, the orphaned, the partial orphaned etc. are not left behind. The programme caters for them as well as those with individual needs.

The Kabare Girls' High School Guidance and Counselling Department is indeed operational and its able members are reachable at all time by all the students. We focus at providing an all-round enabling environment for all our students
